Discovering Your Ford Explorer: Comprehensive Guide on Battery Location

Welcome to my Automotive channel! Today, I’ll demonstrate how to remove and replace the battery in a 2012 Ford Explorer. This guide is applicable to the 5th generation of Ford Explorers manufactured from 2011 to 2019.

The battery in these cars is conveniently located under the front hood, easily accessible right in this spot.

To begin with, you’ll need to remove the battery holder, which secures the battery in place with two 10 millimeter nuts, one on each side. Once the nuts are removed, the holder can be taken off, and the battery will be loose.

Next, loosen and remove the battery terminals. Always start by removing the negative terminal first, followed by the positive. When installing a new battery, always connect the positive terminal first and then the negative to avoid any potential shorts.

If the terminals are stuck due to the battery not being removed for a long time, you may need to use a flat screwdriver or a hammer and screwdriver to carefully wiggle and tap to loosen them.

Once the terminals are disconnected, the old battery can be pulled out, and the new battery can be installed in the same manner.
