2016 Ford Escape Oil Change: A Comprehensive How-To Guide

Today we are going to be doing an oil change on my 2016 Ford Escape. Some of the supplies you will need are four quarts of oil, a new oil filter, and a 13-millimeter wrench. The type of oil I used was 5w-20.

First, we’re going to remove the engine cover.

After removing the engine cover, remove the scrape guard from under your car.

Next, remove the oil drain plug with your 13-millimeter wrench. Make sure you put a pan underneath to catch the oil that drains out.

Okay, so this is the oil drain plug and we used a 13-millimeter wrench to get it off. Then, take off the oil cap to get more oil to drain out of the engine.

Once all the oil has drained, wipe away any excess oil and put the oil drain plug back on, tightening it with the 13-millimeter wrench.

To get to the filter from the top or at least to see it, we disconnected whatever that is from that little tube thing. The filter is down there, it’s that white thing.

Loosen the oil filter and let it drain before removing it all the way. Prime the new filter by putting oil around the rim.

Now you can put on your new filter.

When you put your oil in, just put a clean towel so then if you spill.
