P144C Ford Fusion: Comprehensive Guide to Diagnosis & Solution

Today, we’re at an undisclosed location in Kentucky working on a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium with a 2.0 EcoBoost engine. The check engine light came on with the code P144C, which indicated a problem with the purge valve in the engine.

After researching the issue, I found that I needed to replace the purge valve. I got the replacement part off eBay for a fraction of the cost at auto parts stores. The purge valve comes with a bracket and a few connections that need to be carefully unhooked and reattached. The process also involves removing the top cover and the airbox for better access.

The connections are all plug-and-play, and by using some basic tools like picks and a knife sharpener, I was able to carefully remove the old purge valve and replace it with the new one. It was a bit challenging to access some of the connections, but with some patience and careful maneuvering, I was able to complete the replacement.

After reinstalling the parts, I started the car, planning to test drive it to see if the check engine light would reset. This DIY project saved me money and was a great learning experience.
