2008 Chevrolet Impala Battery: Replacement Guide and Essential Tips

Hi, I’m Peter Stephens, a service advisor at WK Chevrolet GMC Buick and Cadillac. Today, I’m going to show you the proper way to jumpstart your vehicle.

When you open the hood of your vehicle, you may not see the battery out in the open. Look for the positive and negative signs. On this vehicle, the negative and positive signs are right over here.

We need to remove the lid to gain access to the battery. On the positive side, there will be a shield. Flip that up to gain access.

Next, take your jumper cables and start by putting the red (positive) side on the dead battery. Then, put the other red (positive) side on the good battery. After that, attach the negative side to the good battery and then the following negative side back onto the bad battery.

Let the vehicle with the good battery run for approximately four minutes. Then, try to start your vehicle. If it starts, you can remove the battery cables. If not, wait a few more minutes and try again.

When you’re ready to remove the battery cables, start by taking the black (negative) off the bad battery, then off the good battery. After that, remove the red (positive) off the good battery and finally the red (positive) off the battery you just jumped. Reinstall the shields and you’re ready to go.

And that’s how you jumpstart your battery.
