Welcome to the man cave, where today we’re taking a look at a 2017 Jeep Wrangler that came in with a misfire issue on cylinder four and 67,000 miles on the clock. Despite its low mileage and gentle road use, it’s experiencing injector problems, which is a surprise. In this post, we’ll discuss the diagnostic process and the steps involved in rectifying the issue.
Initially, we attempted a tune-up and code reset, but the misfire on cylinder four persisted. Upon further investigation, we discovered an open circuit issue with the injector. This led us to the decision to remove the lower intake to access and replace the faulty injectors.
After removing the lower intake and the injectors, it became clear that one of the injectors was causing the problem. Upon inspection, it was evident that the faulty injector had failed internally due to resistance issues. The remaining injectors appeared to be in similar condition, so we decided to replace all of them to ensure a comprehensive fix.
With the new injectors and gaskets in place, we reinstalled the lower intake, cleared the codes, and started the engine. The thorough diagnostic process and subsequent repairs have resolved the misfire issue, and the Jeep Wrangler is now running smoothly without any sign of misfires or leaks.
