2018 Jeep Wrangler Key Fob Battery Replacement: A Step-by-Step Guide

In this video, I’m going to show you how to change the internal battery in this Jeep Wrangler key fob. It’s a new key fob that’s only been used since 2018 all the way up to present day, and it takes one CR2450 battery. It’s pretty easy to change this yourself at home, just follow along.

You can pick one of these batteries up on Amazon for just a couple of bucks. I’ve left a link down in the description if you want to get one.

Turn around the key fob to the bottom, and you can see there’s a little opening there. Take something like a flathead screwdriver, just whatever fits in there. All you need to do is insert and give a little twist. You’ll hear a pop, and you’ll see the back part started to come off. Work your way through that opening, twisting and popping the rest of it off so you don’t damage anything, and just pull it off with your fingers.

This can be a little tricky. All you really need is to use a small instrument. I’m going to be using one of these precision screwdrivers. If you don’t have one of these at home, you could maybe use a toothpick or just something thin enough to fit into that small area. Insert into that little space, and just kind of rock back. You can see it’s starting to come out there, and then it’ll just pop out once you’ve pulled it out a little bit, and the whole thing will come flying out.

There’s our CR2450. Take a new CR2450, make sure the positive side goes up just like this, and push it in, slide it in and click it down. That’s it, super simple. All you need to do is just figure out which way this thing goes and click it back on just like that.

Once it’s all secured around the edge, that’s it, you’re all set. If you found this video helpful, go ahead and leave a like or comment.
