Today, I’m sharing this tutorial not out of choice, but out of necessity. The battery in my F-150 key fob is dying, and I recently encountered a situation where I couldn’t start my truck. After managing to start it, I immediately got a new battery and decided to guide you through the process of replacing it.
If you have a 2017 F-150, you’ll need two CR2025 batteries for your key fob. You can easily find them at your local grocery store for a few bucks.
To open the key fob, locate a small spot on the Ford side and use your fingernail to open it. Inside, you’ll find a hidden emergency key, which can be used to start your truck. Next, remove the key and use it to disconnect the inner part of the key fob. You’ll find the batteries facing each other, and you’ll need to place a piece of paper between them, with the plus sides aligned.
Carefully remove the old batteries and replace them with the new CR2025 batteries, ensuring the plus sides face each other with the piece of paper in between. Close the key fob, and you’re all set with a fresh battery ready to go.
