Hey everyone, today I’m going to walk you through a guitar tutorial for one of my personal favorites, “What You Give” by Tesla. Let’s hop right into it!
It all starts with the legendary first nursery, the G chord. You’ll play the open D and then hammer onto the second fret of the D string. After that, you play the fourth string (D). Repeat this and then go to the third fret, pull off to the second fret on the G string, then go to the first fret of the high E string and the open G string.
Now, let’s talk about one of the best parts of the song – the slide from the 2nd fret to the 4th fret on the G string, then to the 3rd fret on the B string, back to the 4th fret on the G string, and finally the open high E and the 3rd fret on the B string.
For the chorus, you can play the power chords or go open-open on the D string and continue to the G string. Another option for the chorus is playing the full chords: E suspended and F major. Combining all these elements gives you the complete song structure.
